Almond oil. Scars. What do they have to do with each other?
Well, almond oil is a wonder product that does great things for the skin. It moisturizes and heals skin with everyday use. This means you can use it to prevent and reduce the appearance of scars.
You can even use almond oil for face scars because it is gentle on sensitive skin. Are you self-conscious about your superficial scarring? Almond oil might be the solution for you.
Below, I cover whether you should use almond oil on scars (as well as whether you should use almond oil for face acne scars) and which type, why almond oil helps scars and exactly how to use almond oil on scars for the best results.
What Is Almond Oil?
Almond oil comes from the seed of the almond plant, Prunus dulcis. As you likely know, we classify almonds as a “tree nut”, and many people have allergies to almonds. Yet, almonds are not nuts, which is true for many “tree nuts”. As I mentioned, almonds are a seed.
People have been using almond oil for centuries because it’s excellent for the health of your body. Most of us know how great nuts and seeds are for eating. They have incredible nutritional value, and they are one of the healthiest snacks you can eat.
It probably comes as no surprise then that we make almonds into the oil. We can use this oil in cooking for its significant nutritional value, or we can use it topically. Besides cooking, many people use almond oil for their hair and skin.
When buying almond oil, you need to be careful about which one you choose. There are two kinds of almond oil: refined and unrefined.
Refined Vs Unrefined Almond Oil
Refined almond oil is most common because it can be mass-produced for cheap. Yet, it is exposed to harsh chemicals and high heat. This leads to the depletion of the nutrients in the oil so it has almost no nutritional benefits.
Unrefined almond oil is created naturally. So, it retains all its natural nutrients. If you have a choice, I always recommend buying unrefined oil because it’s better for your health.

Almond Oil Allergies
Before you use almond oil, you should take caution. If you are allergic to almonds or other nuts and seeds, then you shouldn’t use almond oil. Almonds are a very common allergen. Using almond oil on your skin can cause as many problems as ingesting it if you have an allergy to it.
If you’re not sure whether you’re allergic to almonds, be sure to complete a patch test first.
Simply massage a few drops of almond oil into the inside of your elbow. Then, place a bandaid over the oil for 24 hours. You can check your skin, and if there’s no reaction, then you’ll be safe to use it.
Is Almond Oil Good For Scars?
You can use almond oil for burn scars. You can also use almond oil for pimple scars. Long story short, you can use almond oil for any kind of scar.
One of the reasons almond oil is so good for scars is because of its emollient properties. Almond oil takes in moisture from the surrounding air to keep skin hydrated. In turn, this leaves you with skin that is softer and smoother.
Many people use almond oil to prevent the occurrence of scars. It can also reduce the appearance of current scars.
The oil works to moisturize the skin so well because it is easily absorbed by the skin. It balances the skin’s pH and moisture levels. It also works to heal damaged skin cells and generate brand new skin cells.
Don’t expect that your scars will go away completely. It’s possible, but not likely. Your scars are more likely to fade to better blend in with the rest of your skin.
Almond Oil Acne Scars
Many people develop acne scars which most often appear as dark, pockmarked spots. These scars are often more embarrassing than others since they occur on the face.
You can treat acne scars with almond oil like any other scar. Plus, almond oil makes a great cleanser and moisturizer for your face. With regular use of almond oil, you will likely notice a reduction in your acne scars.

You can use sweet or bitter almond oil on your scars.
Should You Use Almond Oil For Acne Scars?
Have you ever thought about using almond oil for pimple marks?
As I mentioned before, almond oil is quite effective for use on acne scars. Scars caused by acne are one of the most common forms of scars that people deal with. So, people are frequently trying to find ways to get rid of their acne scars.
Almond oil is gentle enough to use on your face, and it will help reduce the appearance of your acne scars.
Benefits Of Almond Oil For Scars
There are many reasons why almond oil is good for scars. We’ve covered some of those reasons already — e.g. almond oil will help reduce the appearance of scars. Yet, there are other reasons why you should consider using almond oil for your scars and skin.
Why is it good to use almond oil for scars on face? Well, almond oil is so gentle that you don’t need to use it with any other oils. This means that it is safe to use on your face.
Almond Oil Is Absorbant & Not Greasy
Almond oil has a lower content of fatty acids than many other oils which makes it less greasy. Fatty acids are great for your skin, but a smaller amount is better than too much. Lesser quantities of the fatty acids omega-9 and omega-6 keep the oil stable.
A stable oil is easier for the skin to absorb, and it aids the skin in taking up the nutrients provided by the oils.
Almond Oil Has Antioxidants & Anti-Inflammatory Properties
The oil contains antioxidants like vitamin E to keep the skin healthy. They fight free radicals that cause the signs of aging and skin damage. It promotes the healing of skin and the generation of new skin cells. These properties prevent scars and reduce their appearance.
Many people also notice swelling around their scars. But, almond oil has anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce swelling.
